Download, sign in, and grant the first permissions.
How do I install it?
On Mac, open the dmg and drag Pressay into Applications. On Windows, run the Universal installer; it picks x64 or ARM64 for you. The first launch walks you through permissions, the microphone, and a shortcut test.
Why can Windows still show SmartScreen?
The installer carries the company code signature, but a brand-new build can still raise the prompt before it accumulates download reputation. Download only from pressay.ai, and check the publisher and the SHA-256 given on the download page.
Why no password?
Pressay uses an email one-time code: you receive one code each time you sign in on a new device. It never stores a password and does not use third-party OAuth.
One shortcut
One key, one action: tap to start, tap again to stop; the composer opens from the bottom capsule.
The default shortcut
Fn on Mac, right Alt on Windows; either can be changed to any key combination in Settings. There is exactly one global binding — operations have no global shortcut of their own.
Tap to speak
Tap the shortcut, speak, and tap again to finish. Pressay refines sentence by sentence while you speak, then inserts the result into the input box your cursor was in when you tapped. It only writes text — it never sends for you. If the target is gone, the result returns to the composer instead of going into another app.
Dictate in the composer
While the composer is open, a tap starts dictation and another tap stops it, and the words stay in the composer. It suits long passages, or anything you still want to edit or translate before inserting deliberately.
Open the composer without recording
Clicking the capsule at the bottom of the screen opens the composer without starting the microphone. You can type, paste, or start dictation later from the interface or the same shortcut.
Insert
Once the composer content is right, click Insert or press ⌘+Enter on Mac / Ctrl+Enter on Windows to write the whole text into the frozen target at once. A plain Enter only starts a new line.
Esc hides it
Esc only hides the composer; it does not clear the draft. Click the capsule again to carry on — only Clear deletes the draft.
Number keys run operations
While the composer is open and the text does not have focus, a number key runs edit or translate directly. Once you are editing text, a number is just a number: click the operation instead, or press ⌘+number on Mac and Ctrl+number on Windows.

The shortcut does nothing
On Mac, re-enable Pressay under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. On Windows, first confirm Pressay is still running in the tray, then record the shortcut again in Settings.
The microphone picks up nothing
First switch the input device under Settings → Audio. If the waveform stays completely flat, quit any video-conferencing app that may be holding the microphone exclusively, then try again.
Which fields cannot be used?
Pressay supports most standard editable fields. When a secure field such as a password or a verification code has focus, Pressay does not start voice input and does not write into it — use the system keyboard or a physical one. Apps and custom-drawn controls that expose no standard text insertion may not accept an automatic insert; the content then stays in the composer and is copied to the clipboard, so nothing is lost.
The text never appeared in the target app
When an insert fails, the content stays in the composer and is also placed on the clipboard as a fallback, so it is never lost. Granting accessibility permission again restores automatic insertion.

How much can I write each week?
Free includes all features and full quality, with 50,000 words each week. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC every Monday.
Can I buy Pro yet?
Not yet. Pro is priced at $15/month or $120/year; until billing opens, the site only registers a notice request and never shows a checkout you cannot complete.
How do I delete my account?
Choose Delete account under Account Settings in Pressay. Only after the server confirms success does the app clear the local sign-in state, history, and personal dictionary; if it fails, your data stays and you can retry.

What is the difference between edit and dictation?
Dictation refines as you speak and only makes corrections that do not change your meaning. Edit is an operation you run deliberately in the composer: it reads the whole text and rewrites it — folding in a correction you made several sentences later, reordering items, imposing structure. The version before the replacement stays in history, so you can go back.
What if I want to work on text from somewhere else?
Copy it, paste it into the composer, then run edit or translate. Pressay does not read the content of other apps, so bringing the text in is always a step you take yourself.
Proper nouns keep coming out wrong
Add the person, product, or term to your personal dictionary; both recognition and refinement will then prefer the spelling you gave.
Is what I say stored?
Audio and cloud processing results are not retained. History is kept only on your own computer, and you can set it to keep nothing.
Does it need an internet connection?
Yes. Recognition and refinement run in the cloud. If the connection drops, Pressay says so plainly instead of silently discarding a recording.
